Our worst game of the year, seeing us drop from 2nd in the league to finish 4th after losing 3-8 at Sheepscar was completely obliterated by an amazing team performance in the cup final vs Nags Head.
Awesome stuff, lads!!!
So, you may have noticed that I've finally updated the pool site! Only took a season to get the back-end clever stuff working properly (I hope)
Not many changes, other than it looking far nicer than it used to (big shout out to the design skills of Vinny and the clever coding of frugi!)
Most of the content from the previous site is there, though I may have cunningly hidden it (top singles/doubles by season are now visible by looking at that season).
I guess you'll find what you need by having a good trawl around.
Now it's up and running, I'll look at bolting on some extra features so let me know if you've any ideas and I'll try to make them happen.
Anyhow, enough about websites - bring on the pool!
Again, congratulations for a great finish last season.
Ended up 2nd in the league after showing some real character and battling back from a mediocre start.
And kudos to Gav for a quality 2nd place in the Singles tournament and making the semis in the doubles too.
With a couple of new players and a condensed core team, let's get out there and start scoring some wins.
Congratulations to Sy for battling his way to a brilliant win in the singles competition!
A small mistake gave Bob Johnson the only chance he needed to take the 1st.
Then came the outrageous 8-ball clear from Sy after a dry break from Bob to tip the scales back to even.
In the 3rd, the head was on and an unlucky double-kiss from Bob left Sy to make a good clear to take the match and the title!
Great work Sy! and well done to Bob for being there in another final.
Juicy! We've had some good results in this competition, notably a 5-4 away win at The Globe in the semi, but this is the first time we've made the final, which took place at the Northern Snooker Centre. At kick off I just knew we were going to win, some good pre-game team politics whittled the team down to the obvious 5 (assuming Terry wasn't slaughtered) of...Terry, Lambster, Gav, Dom and Sy. Dave 'The Wolfhound' Hardie grabbed the final spot after some good practice on the eve of the final. Kevin Brock went in off the break in game one, Terry cleared up. Louis Gillan gave Lamby a couple of problems in #2, but when he saw a chance to finish, no messing. NAT in game 3 Wolfie patience got TWO, and Terry FW v Ross & JG. Then we had a stupendous singles game, where John Gillan went for a 'nails' clear, just failed. Dom snookered him, got two and made a tricky finish look easy. Gav was just unable to make it a clean sweep, but credit Diddy on holding his nerve. It fell to Dom to pot the winning black in game 6 (Lamby excellent) and GAME OVER! We never even needed our incredibly not so secret weapon, Sy, who was in the Jeri Ryan position (Seven Of Nine). Its been a strange season with some inconsistencies and Gav has done a great job keeping the team onside, and will get his reward come presentation night. Bring that baby on!
